What is Twenty One?

Twenty One or popularly known as Blackjack is one of the most loved and most played card game in the world. In fact, it is also called as Vieng-et-un in France and Bente Uno in the Philippines.The objective of Twenty One or Blackjack is to get that magic number, which is twenty one of course.

How to get twenty one in "Twenty One"?

It is simple to get 21 in this card game. All we need to do is count the value of our cards. The suites: diamonds, clubs, spades and hearts do not have a major significance in the game. Do you see the number in your cards? These numbers actually represent the value of your blackjack hand. Let us say you get a two of spades and a ten of hearts. Your total value then is a dozen. (2 + 10 = 12).

What about those cards that have letters on them?

We all know that K stands for king, Q for queen and J for jack. J could also stand for Joker but jokers are only used in certain blackjack variants such as California Blackjack. The lettered cards have a value of ten. So in case we get a King of Hearts and a Queen of Spades our total value is worth twenty.

What about the Ace? An ace card is represented by the letter "A" and printed on the card is one suite usually bigger than in size than any of the numbered cards. In twenty-one or blackjack an ace has a value of one and of eleven. So in any case the first two cards dealt to you are an ace plus any card worth ten; then you win automatically blackjack. (11 + 10 = 21)

What if we don't have this twenty one card total? Don't in blackjack as long as we are not over 21 or busted we still have the chance to win blackjack. If we get a value of 20 or less, we can still win the blackjack pot as long as the dealer does not have a total of twenty or ours is still greater than his.
